BARFC Coaching Announcement

| 24/06/2016

Bridgwater & Albion RFC announce the departure of assistant coach Simon Martin and Head Coach Kevin Innalls. Both have been coaching the Bridgwater & Albion senior squads for the past four seasons.

Simon Martin addressed the following comments to the club “I would like to thank all the players, coaches, volunteers, management and supporters at Bridgwater & Albion RFC. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last four seasons coaching and I am also proud that I ended my playing career at the club. I look back with fond memories and it gives me great pleasure to see how far the club has progressed in my time, in terms of player numbers, player development and style of rugby. Although the second half of last season for the first team was challenging, the strength and depth within the senior squad is developing and with the second team reaching promotion to Somerset premier league, the future looks promising. I would like to wish everyone at the club all the very best for next season”.

Kevin Innalls, a former player and current Head Coach will also step back from coaching duties by mutual consent. Kevin has been an influential member of the club for many years. “It has been a pleasure coaching the club over the past few years” Kevin said. “I am confident and satisfied that the playing side of the club is in a far better position than when I took over, in my second tenure, four and a half seasons ago. I would like to thank all players for their commitment and hard work, and back room staff for all their hard work and assistance. I wish all players and coaches all the best for the coming season”.

Chair of rugby Gary Allen wanted to express his gratitude to both Kevin and Simon for all of the work they had done.

Steve Smith, Bridgwater & Albion RFC Chairman added his thanks to the clubs departing coaches. “Kevin and Simon took over at a difficult time for the club and have made a tremendous contribution to the recent success the club has enjoyed. We wish them both well for the future and we sincerely hope that they will not be strangers at Bridgwater”.

The club will make an announcement on the future coaching set up shortly.
