| 13/01/2017

barfc vs nprfc2On Saturday afternoon Bridgwater and Albion are involved in their local derby match against North Petherton at Beggars Brook where the kick off is at 2.30.

When the two sides met back in late September it was the Albion who claimed the bragging rights with a 22-8 victory, something that they will be keen to retain.

Currently Bridgwater occupy eighth place in the table with 38 points from 15 games of which they have won eight, while Pethy are two places below with with 36 from the same number of matches.

Looking ahead to the match Simon Morrell the BARFC head coach said: Its brilliant to be playing the local derby on Saturday when there will be another big crowd to watch us.

“The boys have been working hard so I have told them to go an enjoy the occasion and obviously we will play with real intensity and raise our game noticeably, but there is no added pressure.”

Regarding the team Simon said: “We will be without Joe Bussell and Ethan Trebble-Westlake, but we are putting out a pretty strong team. We have got James McCloughlin back in the squad which is a big plus for us and we have got Ali Blundell back on the bench.

“Adrian Tew gets a start at tight head prop against his old club which should be a motivator for him to go and have a good game while John Hill gets a start at full back after earning his shirt, which is a huge credit to him.

“This is a massive game and all credit to him the way that he has stepped up from the Seconds. He epitomizes what we have been trying to instill in the guys, he has kept on working and stayed positive.

“John has been unbelievable in training and just lets the rugby do the talking and a good example for all of the boys who want to get into the first team.”

Simon added: “Its going to be a good day and we are all looking forward to the game on Saturday.”
