‘A good way to end the first half of our season’ says Geoff.

Reflecting on Saturday’s victory Geoff Sluman the First XV team manager and chairman of rugby at Bridgwater and Albion said: “This was a good result for us, especially given the tough game we had when we went to Bideford earlier in the season.

“We expected a tough game and definitely that is what we got. This was another really physical encounter a lot of the game, but we played some really smart intelligent rugby. We kicked at the right times and run it at the right times and I was really pleased with the way that we managed the game in that respect.

“Bideford had good spells, but credit has to go to our boys because our defence held firm and whilst a lot of the action was in our half it wasn’t near our try line.

“A number of the Bridgy boys had to play out of their normal position and they all gave a good account of themselves.”

Sluman added: “There was a really good crowd at the game on Saturday so it was good to be able to sign off with a victory .The boys will now all have a well earned break now and come back enthused and ready to go early in the New Year.”

Bridgwater and Albion end the first half of their season in ninth place in the South West One (West) table with 33 points from 14 games, six of which they have won.

They return to action on January 6th with a trip up the A38 to Thornbury.
