Reflecting on the Newent game

| 29/03/2018

Reflecting on the Newent game Geoff Sluman the Albion’s director of rugby said: “It’s the same story that it has been for the last couple of weeks- a really good effort, but in the end we got close but we weren’t quite enough to beat another team near the top.

“Everybody put in a phenomenal effort in the game, and full credit must go the players. Straight afterwards head coach Simon Morrell and myself were telling the lads that they put in a good shift, but they were the ones saying it wasn’t enough,  that they made too many mistakes and want to do more, so fair play to them.

“I think that the undoing of us were the penalties in the first half , and we gave away far too many and the soft try we gave away at the start of the second.

This weekend Bridgwater are without a game, so next up they will face North Petherton away under floodlights on Friday April 6th.

“We have got a lot of battered and bruised bodies and know that we have got three physical encounters to come so the squad will have a rest this coming week before getting back together in the week ahead of the Pethy game.

“We wont be changing any patterns or anything else with three games to go so the rest is probably more important at this stage.

Geoff added: “Its always a great atmosphere to play against Petherton, but to be honest its no bigger than any other game because we want to win them all. Of course we know a lot of their players well because a lot of them grew up with Bridgwater.”
