Season starts again on 7th Jan……….

| 26/12/2016
Bridgwater and Albion re-commence their South West One (West) campaign with a home fixture against Newent on Saturday January 7th, which kicks off at 2.15pm at College Way.

Before the Albion commence the second half of the season head coach Simon Morrell reflected on how his side have progressed so far.

“The first thing we wanted to do at the start of the season was to put a system in place that was going to enable us to kick on as a group and we have embedded that it the minds of our squad. The hard bit, the structure is now all in place,” Morrell who joined the club from Teignmouth back in the summer said.

“However it’s all about changing the culture of the group and we will continue to do that for the rest of the season and beyond which is the next point for us so
there is still room for improvement.”

Morrell went on: “At this stage last year Albion were at the top of the table but then went on a massive downward spiral, whereas this year I think that we are poised to kick on and will improve on the results that we have achieved in the first half of this season.

“Overall I am pleased with the way that things have gone since I arrived here back in the summer. I knew that the first year at Albion was going to be tough .

“We know where we want to get to and are desperate to get there so it’s a kind of patience game. The medium plan is to improve on the previous year and then kick on.

“In terms of the talent pool that we have got we are in a good position, perhaps not in experience because we are blooding young guys all the time, but things are looking very healthy and as ever there is the capacity to recruit if we need to.

“We are in a good place, but its early days still and will be another 12 months I imagine until we get to where we want to be.”

Morrell picked out a couple of the high points of the Albion’s season so far, one of which was the home victory in their local derby with North Petherton.

“We were having a bit if a sticky time of it before we played North Petherton at home and when we rocked up for that it was a must win game for us.  Even though we were below full strength the ease with which we stepped up and put them away was really pleasing for me.

“The other big match for us was beating Drybrook at home when we managed to squeeze out a win without a number of our regular players. The boys dug deep for that and showed real character which is something we have been working hard to achieve.”

The Albion coach added: “ We will be training again on Thursday evening when we will be building up for our match with Newent.”
