Simon reflects on Pethy game for BARFC website

| 26/09/2016

Bridgwater and Albion head coach Simon Morrell was a happy man when he reflected on his sides impressive victory over North Petherton 24 hours earlier.

Simon said: “It was a really good win and it was a great performance- but we mustn’t get too far ahead of ourselves. The boys all enjoyed the game on Saturday and afterwards but on Tuesday night it will be business as usual in preparation for our game at Okehampton on Saturday.”

Talking about the speed at which the game was played the head coach sad: “The game had to be played at a pace because Pethy have got a big pack so we had to raise the tempo because we knew that would give us the upper hand which it did.

“We picked a really fit back five – there wasn’t a traditional lock in there they were just back row and second row , which enabled us to play fast and allowed the wings to play the way that we wanted. “

Simon went on: “The boys showed a lot of passion and commitment which is what we expect from our players, both collectively and individually. I hope that will be our trademark moving forwards.

“If you have got that amount of enthusiasm and energy going into collisions no matter who you play you are going to give yourself a good chance so that is the way that we are approaching it.”

Did Bridgy suffer any injuries on Saturday?

“Unfortunately Garryn Basson took a knock and may have been concussed so we will have to wait and see what the doctor says. Apart from that we suffered a few bumps and bruises but nothing that prevent anybody from playing this coming weekend.”

Simon added: “I know that our last two results looked awful on paper, but we know what we are capable of and this was more like it, so we just have to keep on grafting away at our game and trying t improve at our game even more.”
