Simon’s Thoughts……………….

| 07/11/2016

Simon Morrell the Bridgwater and Albion head coach was full of praise following his sides best away performance of the season so far.

“The boys played really well on what was not a very good pitch and I don’t think that away wins come much better than that with five tries.

“We always knew that we were better than our results up to a fortnight ago and two wins in our last two matches shows that. However we still know that we are a way off where we want to be but we are happy now that the results keep coming and we have aspirations to kick on from here.

“Away from you have to have a pretty low penalty count which we did, and in defence bar one slipped tackle that gave them a score we did well. Our set piece was exceptional as it has been all of the season and we know we have got some pretty useful boys in the backs, so now it’s a case of fine tuning those areas.

However there are areas that Morrell feels his side need to improve upon.

“Our kicking game could be a whole lot better, which wasn’t great at Kingsbridge and against other teams could have cost us dear- however we are quite realistic about where we are.”

Albion were due to play Burnham on Sea in the quarter final of the Somerset Cup this coming weekend but the seasiders have opted not to fulfill that fixture, meaning that there is no game for the First XV.

The head coach added: “This will give us a chance to rest a few of the weary bodies but the boys will train as usual. Next up we have got Chard up at home (Nov 19th) when we will be looking for another win. “
