BARFC 2nds 53, Yatton 2nds 7 (28/11/15)

| 28/11/2015

Today was another triumph for Bridgwater, although it was not their strongest performance. The kick offs were difficult all game with the swirling winds, although the pack made up for it well with a good drive. Collins kick to gain ground was good but the chase from the backs was predominant all game.

The ball was turned over and found by the ginger Italian scoring after just five minutes. A line out was stolen against the head by little Slu and the backs looked dangerous in attack.

The ball found Strads lurking in the back and he went over in the corner. Jon Hill stepped up from the touch line to hit the post. Bridgwater won this game based on their defence, both backs and forwards claim turnovers and worked well from the mistakes of yatton.

Sluman jnr turned the ball over to Tewy who made a break, offloaded on the 22m to Barney who went over only to be called back claiming a forward pass.

Yatton kicked from the scrum ran back well and quick passes saw Ethan go over for his first try of the day. Jon misses again.

Yatton kick off and chase hard knocking on in the process.

The scrum preform a basic training move executed to perfection. Scott Franklin went down the blindside and had a two on one, popped it to Jon Hill who slid in under the post. Jon kicked his own score. 24-0

Collins returned the kick-off with a cracking kick chaser forcing a knock on, the ball spun to Barney who was put into touch 5m out. Yatton clear their lines, Bridgwater drove from the line out, Strads broke and scored and once again he try was pulled back as the last pass was deemed forward.

Yattons scrum finally cracked under pressure from Bridgwater, who were first to drive on the loose ball. The better Sluman came away with 5 points with a missed conversion the score was 29-0.

Now on a roll the boys took it well from a kick off and with quick hands saw themselves about to score but a litter pass from Denovan saw the ball hit the ground rather the intended man. The ball was recycled quickly and found Strads who claimed his second try of the game. Another unsuccessful conversion. That brought half time to a close.

Joe Sluman forced and error from the kick off and a bridgy scrum was won, bigger Slu ran well and with a simple two on one with Denovan who dropped the ball. (Massive shock) Jon Hill came off due to injury replaced by Dougy Caddick.
After a bit of ping pong bridgy got a line out on their 22m line, Collins clears with a hard chase alongside Dougy and Collins turns and tackles yatton player over.

Penalty to Bridgy for not releasing. Bridgy kick to 5m line a rare steal from yatton sees them clear. Denovan returns well two on one with Barney but **** hands mess up yet another try. The biggest blunder of the day came after some fantastic forward work involving little Slu, Gabby who broke tackle after tackle to put Tewy clean in, but he didn’t want to score so knocked it on.

Big Slu made up for it shortly after and scored under the posts. Denovan converts.

The final subs were made with Joe Sluman and that prop coming off and Matt Ranson and Tom ‘Spud’ Hillman on. After a lot of messy play Doug Caddick tidied up a loose kick and yattons play ran the ball back from deep and made good ground until he met the white Armitage brother (M Ranson), who ended both of their games by knocking no15 the **** out and getting a ‘controversial’ yellow card for high tackle!

After the Ref gave penalty after penalty to yatton they eventually scored a converted try.

From nothing Ethan broke from a scrum to run the length of the pitch to score, Denovan misses his kick SHOCK!!
Great work from the kick off Little Slu and Strads with lovely hands put Ethan in for a hat-trick. Great conversion by Denovan … Biggest shock of the day!

In summary Bridgwater know they will have to work hard to fix some of the problems they had today. But when you win 53-7 on a BAD day the rest of this league have a lot of work to do to beat this team.

The End
