Dirttrackers Match Report Saturday 21st October

| 26/10/2017

The Dirttrackers made the difficult trip to Castle Cary to face the current unbeaten league leaders with depleted numbers. Cary were kind enough to lend their entire bench in order for a full sided match to take place and that set the tone for the afternoon with the game played in good spirits throughout.

Cary got into their stride quickly and found themselves 21 points to the good in the opening 15 minutes playing a fast open game with plenty of interplay between forwards and backs. The Dirttrackers were starved of quality ball for much of the time despite holding their own at scrum and line out set pieces. Sheer determination and doggedness in the 2nd period of the first half saw the score rate slow considerably for Cary although they still entered the break 47 points to the good.

The Dirttrackers determination continued throughout the 2nd half and held Cary out from scoring further for almost 20 mins. Cary persistence along with tiring Dirtracker bodies allowed them to score freely for the last quarter where they ran in a further 43 unanswered points.

Despite the 90 point deficit those who donned the Albion shirt can take many positives from the game where their doggedness in defence and strength in the set pieces will serve them well in the games to come.
