Albion supporters mourn popular bar lady Noreen (Nor)

| 10/08/2016

NOREEN NICHOLSON

1937-2016

Bridgwater & Albion supporters, particularly those who can recall the halcyon days of the Broadway (Taunton Road) Ground and the early days of the Club’s occupation of College Way, will fondly remember Noreen Nicholson who worked in the Club’s bars on Saturday match days for a long period.  She and her colleague Sue provided excellent service whilst they were the bar custodians under the bar management of Roy (Sam) Chidgey.  Noreen helped to create a communal atmosphere for all bar users with her friendly and efficient style, manner and personality.  She was well known and very popular with players, supporters and visiting teams and officials alike.  Whilst Nor’s original province was the Broadway Ground, she did migrate to College Way when the Club moved in 1974 and spent another ten years plying satisfied customers with their fare until her retirement.  Nor took a great interest in the Club and its personnel and also played in the ladies skittle team and was a regular bingo addict on a Monday night.  A lovely and kind lady to whom we will all raise a glass in tribute.

Her funeral is at St Johns Church, Highbridge on Friday 19 August at 2.30 pm.
