BBC SOMERSET ANNOUNCES ROUTE FOR ITS 75-MILE WELLINGTON WALK FOR PUDSEY

BBC Somerset Breakfast presenter Claire Carter’s 75-mile route in aid of BBC Children in Need is revealed!

BBC Somerset’s Breakfast presenter Claire Carter is only a week away from her epic 75-mile wellington-boots walk, and it’s all in aid of BBC Children in Need.

The challenge, which has been named ‘The Great Wellington Walk,’ will see Claire venture across the county, stopping by a number of towns and villages along the way. BBC Somerset has now revealed the route, and is calling on listeners to follow Claire’s progress on the radio and online every day and show their support by joining the team in person for the Late, Late Breakfast Show each evening between 7pm and 10pm.

Claire will set off on her trek on Monday 13th November from Wellington School, and will make her way to Somerset County Cricket Club in Taunton where BBC Somerset will be broadcasting the first Late, Late Breakfast Show of the week live on the night.

There will be a silent disco at the cricket club and on the Tuesday there will be live music from 12 piece band DT8 at Doniford Bay Holiday Park. Then people can test their grey matter with a midweek quiz at the Bishop’s Palace in Wells on the Wednesday evening and on the Thursday, BBC Points West’s Clinton Rogers and his band Cleverly Everly will be playing at Yeovil Town Football Club.

The final stop of ‘The Great Wellington Walk’ and last Late, Late Breakfast Show will be broadcast live from Bridgwater and Albion Rugby Football Club on Friday 17thNovember. Listeners can join Pudsey and the BBC Somerset team to hopefully celebrate Claire’s achievement and watch the BBC Children in Need 2017 Appeal show on BBC One.

Ahead of The Great Wellington Walk, Claire said, “I’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the walk already. I never thought so many people would care so much about my feet – but I’m really grateful for all the advice. I’m hoping to see as many people as possible every evening of the walk for our Late, Late Breakfast Show.”

Ahead of the challenge, Claire has endured some training with the Royal Navy to ensure that she is ready for her mammoth walk.

The Great Wellington Walk will start on Monday 13th November and end on Appeal day, Friday 17th November. To find out more and follow Claire on her route please visit BBC Somerset’s Facebook page, or go to www.bbc.co.uk/bbcsomerset.

BBC Children in Need will be back on screens on BBC One on Friday 17thNovember.
