It was hosts Bridgwater and Albion who claimed the bragging rights in this hard fought local derby that was played in front of a crowd of over 1000 at College Way.
Bridgwater kicked off with the strong wind behind them and from the start put pressure on the Petherton line, but they were denied by strong defending from the visitors.
After 12 minutes of play Petherton were reduced to 14 men when they had a player yellow carded but the home side were unable to take advantage of their numbers advantage.
The visitors returned to full strength shortly after which Olly James made a strong run for Petherton which the home defence dealt with and straight away counter attacked through the returning Rob Allen.
The ball found its way out to left winger Oscar Tregenna who went over in the left corner for a try which Stuart Heal converted.
Almost from the re-start Bridgwater scored their second try, this time skipper Ollie Dunn going over for a try in the left hand corner which Heal again converted.
Just after half an hour Bridgwater had a player sent to the sin bin and from the re-start North Petherton’s Toby Harris scored a try in the right corner that was not converted, which made the score 14-5.

Bridgy win!!!

Bridgy win!!!

The hosts continued to go forward and create pressure and on 37 minutes they were rewarded when Joe Bussell scored a try, but Heal’s conversion bounced back off the upright and it was 19-5 at the interval.
The visitors started the second half strongly and the hosts found themselves under pressure, which resulted in Petherton being awarded a penalty after 50 minutes which Olly James duly slotted home.
The game continued to be played at a fast and furious pace with both sides mounting attacks and creating pressure without scoring.
On 24 minutes Petherton had a player yellow carded and from the ensuing penalty Heal further extended the Bridgwater lead.
The visitors were briefly restored to full strength but two minutes later had another player shown the yellow card before the game ended 22-8 to Bridgwater and Albion.
