Geoff Says….

| 21/09/2018

Geoff Sluman the Bridgwater and Albion director of rugby was quite naturally a happy man after seeing his side record such a convincing victory.

“The team put in a great performance again this week. We scored 12 tries in a single competitive league match, and I can’t remember the last time we did that.

“Some may say that the score flatters us but I don’t really think so, we had to work hard to achieve it and whilst Cullompton may not have been at their strongest we still had to work hard, focus and deliver our game plan – they never gave up and made us work for every point.

“The day wasn’t perfect; Sam Adcock who has been playing really well unfortunately suffered an Achilles injury that that is likely to keep him out for up to six months. That will be a big loss for us and we wish him a speedy recovery.

“On a positive note it was Matt Ranson’s 200th first team game so many congratulations to him for that achievement.

“We now have three wins from three games, which is exactly the position we would hope to be in, all we have been doing is focusing on the next match.

“We will follow the same pattern this week, we will have two training sessions where the guys will work really hard. Our coaching group know where we want to target improvement. Our second team had a win on Saturday too and that was really important to us to start momentum with them.”

Regarding the Albion’s next game Sluman said: “Next week the first team have a difficult away trip to Devonport Services, who I am reliably informed we haven’t met for about 30 years.

“They have had a couple of good wins this season, one away against Teignmouth where we lost at the end of last season.

Devonport have good facilities and a pitch that is similar to ours so we should enjoy the challenge and look forward to playing them.”
