No excuses says Kevin (10/10/12)

| 11/04/2013

Head coach Kevin Innalls made no excuses for the way that his team played on Saturday when they were beaten 24-14 by Paignton at Bath Road.

Reflecting on the game Kevin said: “We put in a very poor performance on Saturday. I thought that we were out muscled by a more physical side, we were incompetent at times, we made wrong decisions and so on- there is no excuse for it and it was a very disappointing performance.”

“You just cannot perform like that even against not a great side because they will still turn you over. We didn’t do ourselves any favours at all.”

“We should have comfortably beaten Paignton on Saturday and should never have got ourselves into the positions we did, kicking the ball away, chucking long passes that were never going to hit the target- we just
gifted it to them.”

“There are no excuses, we made too many errors on the day and we weren’t good enough and made poor decisions.”

“The scrum was once again our Achilles heel that led to the try when we were pushed off the ball and it went loose and they picked it up. That’s an area we are trying hard to bolster.”

The Club has managed to recruit one new player as Kevin explained.

“We have already signed one tight head prop who sadly is not available for a couple of weeks now, but when he is hopefully will make a difference.”

“However it’s no good moaning about it we just have to get out on the training park and work at it. We are looking at everything that we need to do to try to improve and we have just got to push on forwards and we
will come out the other side of this.”

“Of course the players are a bit dejected at times but we have just got to battle through that. Things will click for us eventually and we will get going, it is just taking longer than we expected.”

On Saturday Bridgy are away at Oldfield Old Boys.

“This is a massive game for us, but it seems like every game is a big one for us as the moment,” said Kevin.
