Simon’s Midweek Musings………….

| 23/09/2016

Bridgwater and Albion head coach Simon Morrell is relishing the prospect of the local derby match against near neighbours North Petherton at College Way on Saturday.

Looking forward to the game Simon said: “This is big occasion for the boys and a nice way to re-start our season after a couple of difficult weeks and we are looking much stronger on paper for this game which is good going into this fixture.

“It’s a great challenge for the boys and with each week that passes we are getting better on performance and looking towards the next few fixtures we will be back to full strength.”

This week Bridgy will be strengthened by the return of two more key players who have been missing through injury.

“Rob Allen and Brad Fields will both be back with us for the Petherton game that will give a real boost to the side. In addition we welcome back Ali Blundell, who has been training with us for the last few weeks, who will be on the bench.”

Simon went on: “We have had a tough start to our season having played Weston and Newent, two sides challenging for the title in the last two weeks and we took them both on when we were far from our best in terms of availability.

“We have taken what we can from this games and last week was pleasing because our maul functioned  well and our set piece was exceptional and its given us to look at those behind the front row and who can deliver at this level.

“We are definitely better off this week and three or four of the boys who have really stood up the last couple of weeks who wouldn’t have done if we’d had our full compliment of players, so it hasn’t been a complete disaster.”

Simon added: “The boys will certainly be up for it on Saturday so I hope we get a good crowd coming along to cheer them on.”
