We can go forward from this game says Kevin (04/09/2012)

Kevin Innalls may have been disappointed with the Bridgy performance on Saturday against Cullompton, but believes the side can learn from their mistakes and go forward.

Reflecting on the opening league game Kevin said: “Obviously it was a disappointing start to the new season. The difficulty with our pre-season matches was that we were unable to field our strongest side, so we thought that we went into this game with our best combination of players but sadly some of them didn’t quite perform as they wanted.”

“Basically we made too many errors and Cullompton just capitalised on them. We did get ourselves into a lot of good scoring positions but didn’t manage to convert them. In addition our line out didn’t function particularly well, but it has given us a base now to go away and try to rectify this week.”

“Even though they scored that quick try at the beginning we had a number of chances in the first quarter of an hour to come back at them. If we had got some points on the board and gone ahead then I think it would have been a very different game.”

“We have only played one game and we’re certainly not panicking. We will just keep working on the right areas and then we will be away.”

Talking about the number of fans who turned out to watch the season’s opener Kevin said: “We had a good turn out to watch our opening game, so it was a bit disappointing for those who came along to support us that we couldn’t get off to a decent start, but we now know where we are and what we need to do so we can now move forwards.”
