England Rugby Accreditation Honours at Bridgwater & Albion RFC

Club rugby lies at the heart of rugby in England. It is where the game is played in huge numbers and it is the environment that the RFU Development Department is committed to supporting by ‘strengthening clubs and growing the game in the communities around them’. Part of the commitment is the RFU Club Accreditation Scheme that will helps clubs to become stronger, more effective, more efficient and more enjoyable places in which to play rugby.

Bridgwater & Albion RFC have recently undergone their three-year review for their accreditation to the RFU & England Rugby Scheme and have passed with flying colours for both the Senior & Junior sections of the club.

Bridgwater & Albion Club Chairman Steve Smith said “The accreditation demonstrates the Club’s on-going commitment to development of both Senior & Junior Rugby in the local area. We are really pleased that all the hard work and dedication that is shown by everyone associated with the club can be formally recognised in this fashion.”

Chris Hurd, RFU Coaching Coordinator added “The Club Accreditation scheme is based upon the six key drivers identified as crucial to a strong club. Each of these Key Drivers, together with the Core Values of the game, is represented within the Club Accreditation scheme and together they represent the component parts of a strong, sustainable club such as Bridgwater & Albion”.

The drivers that Chris highlights are:

  • Retaining & Developing Players
  • Recruiting New Players
  • Recruiting & Retaining High Quality Coaches, Volunteers & Referees
  • Effective & Efficient Facilities
  • Effective & Efficient Management and Governance
  • Integration with the Local Community

Bridgwater & Albion are delighted to continue to be part of the Accreditation Scheme and will use this to ensure the continued development of Rugby in Bridgwater & the surrounding area.

Bridgwater & Albion RFC field three senior Rugby Teams in the South West leagues, also have a strong Colts squad and field junior teams from Under 7’s through to Under 16’s.
