TONY HARWOOD

| 13/07/2017

Former players and supporters will be sad to have learned of the death of Tony Harwood recently in Crewkerne hospital after a long illness.

Tony was a playing member of the Club from the early 1960’s as the attached 1962/63 Club photograph shows.  He is pictured in the front row with his old friend Phil Sealey.  Tony was a postman in Bridgwater and played for the Club through the 1960’s.  Club President Mike Berry said “I can recall Tony playing with the Club when I first started in the mid 1960’s – he literally generally played in the forwards i.e. in any position required.  Intriguingly he came on Albion’s first overseas tour for many years in 1970 to Copenhagen and I think that Tony and Phil actually met us there – the rest of us went by boat.  After he finished playing he was often seen supporting the Club at the Broadway ground”.

Bridgwater and Albion offers its sincere condolences to Tony’s family on their sad loss.  His funeral is at Yeovil Crematorium at 2.00 p.m. on Wednesday 19 July.
