BARFC Under 16's in new shirtsAlbion got their season under-way in fine fashion, with a convincing 43-12 win over Chard. The game was all but over as a contest before Half-Time as the visitors raced into a 36-0 lead with some great attacking Rugby and punishing several Chard mistakes. Within 10 minutes, Albion had already exerted their dominance with tries from Palmer-Brown and debutant Jason Roots. Further tries soon came from Jacob Nelson and Taylor Galloway both racing onto loose balls to score from deep as the hosts began to lose their discipline, which soon resulted in a yellow card for a poor tackle. The game threatened to boil over at this point but with Chard down to 14 men Albion kept the pressure on with Owen Jones getting onto a kick from halfway to score in the corner. Brad Palmer-Brown added 3 points from a penalty, as he kept the score ticking over with some superb kicking.
The second half nearly started in the same vein as the first, with Bridgwater attacking from the off but Chard started to feel their way back into the game. Their cause’ was helped when the away side were this time reduced to 14 with a controversial yellow card, for a tackle which the Ref deemed illegal. The hosts made this count and after several attacking scrums & penalties, they went over to register their first points. With just 5 minutes left, there was still time for another try a-piece, Jacob Nelson getting his second & Albion’s 6th before Chard ran down an attempted clearance to double their tally. It was too little too late though and Bridgwater will take confidence from a deserved victory.
