The executive committee of B&A RFC are pleased to announce that the 2014-15 season has been appointed a testimonial season for three stalwarts of the club: Skipper Dan Kemmish, James ‘Roly’ Bryant and Matt Hastie.

The three have combined for more than 33 years service and over 900 first team games for Bridgwater & Albion; with numerous supporters, players and club awards. A rarity in the modern game.

Club Chairman Steve Smith said; “These three guys put their bodies and souls on the line week in week out through the past 10-15 years for Bridgwater & Albion and this is a great way of honouring the contribution that they have made on and off the field. They are tough as teak; yet play the game as it should be; epitomising the spirit of rugby and of this great club.”

Skipper Dan stated “This is a great honour for something that I love doing; and makes the hard yards of training seem worthwhile.” James continued “I’m blown away to receive this honour and look forward to the coming year; and sharing it with these two is even more special. “ Matt followed “To be in the company of these two for so many of these games and to share this honour is an absolute privilege; and something I never dreamed of 11 years ago when I first came to this country.

The testimonial season will be raising money for three charities of the players’ choosing:
Dan a fireman at the Bridgwater branch of the Devon & Somerset Fire brigade holds the benevolent fund close to his heart and the good work they do with his comrades.

James has recently been diagnosed with Diabetes and is looking forward to raising some money for the charity.

Matt stated; my brother and his wife’s angel; Ben was born with his wings a couple of years ago and the devastation that this caused our family is not forgotten.  SANDS work with the families affected is important in moving on but never forgetting the impact these precious angels have on our lives.

The season will involve six or seven events and a testimonial committee will be formed and chaired by John Innalls a member of the executive committee. If you would like to get involved or have any ideas please contact John at the club on 01278 423900 or michelle@barfc.co.uk or stay close to www.barfc.co.uk for more information.
