Albion contemporaries mourn loss of North Petherton & Taunton hooker

| 12/07/2013

Older playing members of Bridgwater & Albion Rugby Football Club will be sad to have learnt of the death of Jim Clatworthy on 10 July – he finally succumbed to his long-standing illness after a tremendous battle over the last few years.

Jim Clatworthy was always an opponent to Bridgwater & Albion but a highly respected one when playing for either North Petherton initially and then for Taunton.  There he formed a renowned and formidable front row alliance with his props Eddie Cooper and Russell Gibson.  Certainly the Albion famed trio of those times namely Messrs Harris, Vermont and Norris will have enjoyed many encounters and battles.  Jim was an enthusiastic and very motivated player who gave his all to any team he played for.  He is a sad loss to the clubs which he has represented and to the game generally.  Bridgwater & Albion sends its sincere condolences to Jim’s family and to the clubs for whom he has played.
