Club Mourns Albion’s Ladies Committee Stalwart

Members will be sad to have learnt of the sudden death of Jan Anthony recently.  Jan was an instrumental part of our very successful Ladies Committee for many years, particularly when the club was sited at the Broadway Ground.  She and other ladies undertook considerable work on behalf of the club – not only in preparing meals for the players, but also ensuring that the social attributes of the club were fully up and running.  Above all, Jan thoroughly enjoyed these duties and the social life that it gave her and her husband Bob.  She was often accompanied by her mother and son Rob.  Jan was also a member of the club’s Ladies Skittles side which was very successful and here again, she enjoyed herself in her pursuits up and down the alleys of both the club and venues in the surrounding area.  With Pam Sant and others she also formed a formidable (in skittling terms) team as they swept the board in local competitions.

Jan is survived by her husband Bob and son Rob.  Bob and Rob both played in the Colts and the former was also well involved with the Veterans XV when it ran, initially as touch judge but often cajoled into actually appearing on the field; Rob in turn advanced to Dirtrackers rugby for several seasons.  Both are regular supporters of the club and we hope that they will continue to uphold the family tradition.

All at Bridgwater & Albion extend their sympathies to Bob and Rob and their families.
