Burnham on Sea made their mark against Bridgwater & Albion RFC 3rd XV in the opening five minutes. They scored two tries after which the hosts were always chasing the game.
The visitors dominated the opening stages of this match. They ran with the ball from the off, creating a gap. This saw them score their opening try in the second minute of play. Soon after, they added a second to give themselves a 10-0 lead.
The Albion came back strongly and got themselves into the game, creating a couple of scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, neither of which led to points.
Burnham extended their lead
In the 25th minute, Burnham extended their lead with a further unconverted try making the score 15-0.
Straight afterwards, Albion came back and scored a try. Hooker Bradley Palmer burst out from the loose to surprise Burnham and dashed over, which the trusty boot of Dan Page converted.
Just before the break, the visitors who ran well with the ball throughout added a further try and conversion making it 22-7 at half time.
In the second half Burnham added a further two tries in the opening 20 minutes the first of which was converted.
The final quarter…
The final quarter of the game was played out with both sides looking to create chances but there was no further score and the game ended Bridgwater & Albion Thirds 7 Burnham on Sea Seconds 34.
This coming Saturday all three of the Albion senior sides are in action. The First XV are away at Gordon League, the Seconds are home to Tor while the Thirds travel away to play against Hornets.
On Sunday, Bridgwater & Albion RFC Women are at home to Trojans Women.
The Annual Beth Branson Memorial Match will be taking place at College Way on Friday, November 14, at 7.30pm, to commemorate 19-year-old Bethany Branson, who was tragically killed in road accident in November 2022.
