Bridgwater & Albion RFC will be returning to Western Counties (North) league action on Saturday afternoon

| 23/02/2026

Bridgwater & Albion RFC will be returning to Western Counties (North) league action on Saturday afternoon after an enforced four-week break, when they host Gordon League at College Way, kick-off 2 pm.

Since Christmas, the Albion have enjoyed a successful run of results.  They won against Taunton Seconds at home 20-19, which they followed up by beating Old Bristolians away 36-31.  Then they were narrowly beaten at home 28-27 on 31st January, by high-flying Clifton Seconds.  A game they could so easily have won. Since then, they have been frustrated by the weather.

Hopes of climbing the league table

This weekend, however, Albion have the chance to pick up where they left off and continue their climb up the league table.

Currently, Captain Taylor Buller’s team occupy seventh place in the table.  They have played 14 matches, of which they have won four and accrued 32 points. In comparison, their upcoming opponents Gordon League are one place below them with 31 points from 15 matches and five wins.

When the two sides met in the away fixture back in early November, it was the Gloucester-based side who ran out the 26-22 winners.  Therefore, the hosts will be looking to level the score with a home victory.

After this weekend’s game, the Albion are due to be in league action every Saturday in March.  They are due to play Old Reds away on 7th March, Chosen Hill away on 14th, Gordano at home on 21st and Chard away on 28th March.

The Albion play their last three league matches in April.  They host Midsomer Norton on 11th, and are travelling to play at Nailsea and Backwell a week later.  They then round off their season with a home game against current league leaders, Dings Crusaders Seconds on April 25th.

In addition to the above league fixtures, there is an outstanding Somerset Cup match against Midsomer Norton to be fitted into the schedule.  Details of which will be announced when sorted.

Meanwhile, Bridgwater & Albion RFC Seconds also return to action on Saturday when they travel away to play at Tor RFC.
