Bridgy record a full house of victories

Bridgwater & Albion RFC enjoyed their most successful weekend of the 2025-26 season to date, during which all three senior men’s teams enjoyed the sweet taste of victory.

On a cold and wet Friday evening in front of a good-sized crowd, Bridgwater Seconds entertained their counterparts from Weston super Mare, who, prior to the match occupied third place in the Counties 3 Somerset South Table, one above their hosts.

It was a hard-fought match throughout between two well-drilled sides, but at the end it was the home side who triumphed 19-12, thanks to tries from Rowan Traynor, Aidan Robinson and Jay Darrell, two of which the latter converted.

Charlie Barnes, Rowan Traynor and Nathan Goulding were outstanding for the home team who defended well at the end to hold on to give the Seconds their seventh win of the campaign.

On Saturday afternoon, while the First XV were beating Taunton on the main pitch, Bridgwater and Albion Thirds were at home to Tor Seconds in Counties 4 Somerset South in what turned out to be another tough match. When the two sides met earlier in the season it was Tor who won  38-24, so the hosts were looking for revenge.

Colt players Charlie Drabble and Jack Bilton both had their first opportunity to play senior rugby for the Albion and marked it with a try each to help their side record a 39-5 victory. The other try scorers for the Albion were Tom Stanley (2), Bradley Palmer, Blake Moulding and Cam Modley.

Bridgwater and Albion would like to thank Tor Seconds for making the journey to play the fixture.

Geoff Sluman the Bridgwater & Albion RFC director of rugby said : “It’s been a really pleasing start to 2026 for the club. Three senior men’s teams playing and all three winning doesn’t happen that often, so when it does then its something that we should celebrate.”

He went on: “Well done to all of the players and all of the people who work so hard behind the scenes to enable them to do what they do, on and off the pitch.  Of course I’d also like to say a big thank you to the supporters too, we enjoyed some good support on both Friday night and Saturday afternoon.”

Geoff added: “The players have set themselves some high standards to start the year well
