Youth Specific
Age Grade Code of Practice
The Age Grade Code of Practice provide practical support and best practice to those delivering the Age Grade game.
Early Years Provision (Upto 5 years)
This Early Years Provision Guidance shares good practice to approach the development of children between the ages of 18 months to 5 years. We want to help coaches to recognise their responsibilities so that they can put into place safe, stage appropriate and progressive activities. Through their understanding of what is required during Early Years, coaches are more likely to meet the needs and wants of the children they coach. Wherever the activity takes place – clubs, schools or in communities – we want children to have a positive, fun experience.

Kids First (U7 – U13)
Kids First puts children first. Aimed at U7-U13 boys and girls, it upskills coaches and creates a great rugby environment, so that everyone stays in the game for longer.
As a club we commit to?
- Put children at the heart of everything we do.
- Encourage fun on the pitch through equal opportunity and realistic expectations of children.
- Build the skills of our adults to provide a safe, healthy, respectful and enjoyable environment for children.
- Develop children’s confidence and character as players and as people, challenging any behaviour that conflicts with this.
- Champion rugby’s Core Vales inspiring a lifelong bond between children, adults and sport.
By committing to the above we join a community of over 1000 like-minded clubs and schools around the country who are delivering Kids First Rugby. For those coaching, teaching or refereeing Kids First Rugby, please check out Kids First training courses for coaches and teachers.
