Elwyn Hayward – A dashing three-quarter with good family connections.
Members & former players of Bridgwater & Albion will be sad to learn of the recent death of Elwyn Hayward – a very useful centre /wing who graced the club’s colts & later senior sides from the mid 1970s into the early 1980s. His brother Wayne also played at the same time, enjoying a stellar Colts career & with Somerset, South West & England Trials, & who graduated into B&A 1st XV in the same positions. Both boys’ commitment to the game was not surprising as their father, also Elwyn, was a stalwart flanker with Somerset Police & Somerset
Elwyn always gave the club teams his best & enjoyed his time with us both on & off the field. Bridgwater & Albion RFC send its sincere condolences to Paula & her family, with thanks for Elwyn’s service to us.
