2018 Coaching Set Up

| 17/07/2018

Bridgwater and Albion have announced three further signings to complete their coaching set up ahead of the 2018 season which gets underway in just over six weeks time.

In addition to the appointments of Wayne Sprangle and Richard Bright as player coaches Albion have announced that Carl Rimmer and Ollie Deveto, who are both Exeter Chiefs players will be joining their set up.

Rimmer is a prop, with a wealth of experience having played in the winning team for Chiefs in the 2016/17 Premiership Final at Twickenham.

Devoto who plays as a centre is currently in the Chiefs squad and also played in the 2016/17 Premiership Final setting up one of the tries. Deveto has also earned England International recognition and toured Argentina with the England squad as a centre.

Geoff Sluman who is the Director of Rugby said: “ I am thrilled that Ollie and Carl have both agreed to be with the club and are both willing to pass on their knowledge to the current Albion players.

“Carl’s technical knowledge in the front row and his motivational and tactical knowledge will be very influential, while Ollie’s knowledge of back play and set piece will benefit the Albion players and he has already been influential in defensive plays.”

Sluman added: “As professional rugby players they think and operate at a different level to most, but on top of that they are two of the nicest guys you could wish to know, and will be a great addition to the coaching team.

However it’s not all about International or Premiership rugby at the Albion because Roz Forbes who has coached Somerset Boys Under17 and Under18s and is keen to coach at senior men’s level also joins the Albion set up with this in mind.

Sluman said: “We are really pleased to welcome Roz to the club and delighted that she feels that Albion is a great place for her pursue her coaching ambitions.”

“In addition to our new signings we also have several experienced senior players who are also contributing so we really are very well provided for on the coaching side of things.”

Sluman went on:“At Bridgwater and Albion we have a commitment to do the very best we can for our players and mostly that is about their development and helping them to become the best rugby players they can be.

“We have put together a coaching team that will be led from the front by Wayne and Rich but is supplemented with the knowledge and skills of Carl and Ollie who are up to date with the very latest methods and we also have the enthusiasm of Roz.”

New players are always welcome at Bridgwater and Albion who train at their College Way home on Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm. The club can also be contacted on 01278 423900 during office hours.

The Director of Rugby added: “I would like to wish all of the Albion players the very best for the coming season and I think that any player wanting to advance their development as much as they can would have to go a long way to find a better set up than we have.”
