Bridgwater & Albion RFC 17-47- Old Recliffians Second XV
Bridgwater & Albion RFC are still searching for their first league victory of the season after they were beaten at College Way by Old Redcliffians Seconds on Saturday afternoon.
Old Reds who came into this game after defeating Nailsea and Backwell in their previous fixture took the lead after eight minutes. They caught a goal line drop out and ran in for a try which was converted.
The hosts responded strongly and created pressure at the opposite end. However, 18 minutes after being penalised for holding on Old Reds spread the ball wide. Using their pace, they went over for another converted try to double their lead.
Old Reds continued in the ascendancy
Old Reds continued in the ascendancy and on the half-hour after winning the ball from a Bridgwater scrum. The ball was fed left to their winger in space who went in for the visitor’s third try. This was unconverted on this occassion.
The visitors extended their lead three minutes later. A quickly taken penalty resulted in a try under the posts which was duly converted.
Bridgwater fought back but could not reduce the arrears before the interval. This was 26-0 to Old Reds at half-time.
The home side came back strongly after the break
The hosts came out strongly after the break and following a good period of pressure Albion got themselves onto the scoreboard. Aidan Robinson went over for an unconverted try.
Bridgwater doubled their score a few minutes later, when following a line out. Taylor Buller crashed over for another unconverted score reducing the arrears to just 16 points.
The visitors then seemed to step up a gear and in the space of eight minutes ran in three tries. Each of these was converted.
Penalty awarded for home side
Despite trailing the Bridgy Boys battled back strongly. After being awarded a penalty, Gavin Knight went over for a try which Kyran Devitt added the extras to. Shortly after, the game ended.
On Friday evening Bridgwater & Albion travel to face Burnham on Sea who like themselves are still without a win and were beaten at home by Chard in their most recent match, so it looks like being another tough game.
