Bridgwater & Albion RFC Update

| 19/04/2025

Bridgwater & Albion RFC enjoyed a strong second half of their campaign in Western Counties North and after struggling for the first three months turned things around to finish an impressive sixth in the table.

However, having completed their league season, the Albion are now turning their attention to the Papa-Johns Men’s Community Cup.

Originally, the Albion were due to face the winners of Chard and Dorchester, but the latter have since withdrawn from the competition.

Bridgwater & Albion RFC will now travel to South Somerset to face Chard on Saturday, 26th April.

The two sides have met twice in the league this season. In the first match at Chard in September it was the home side who emerged the winners 26-25.

In the return game at College Way in December, Albion won 25-17.  This result marked the start of the home teams recovery and climb up the table.

Chard ended their season in eighth position in the table, winning seven games, two fewer than the Albion.  They ended with 43 points, nine fewer than Bridgwater.

Last Sunday, Bridgwater & Albion played Helston Ladies of which it was the home side who ran out the comfortable 58-10 winners.

This coming Sunday (27th April) the women play their final match in Women’s NC 2 South West (West) when they host Bude.

Walking rugby at Bridgwater & Albion RFC

With the 2024-25 rugby season now over, apart from the Papa John’s Cup, the ever popular Walking Rugby comes very much to the fore.

More and more people of all ages are participating and Bridgwater &Albion are hosting a tournament at College Way in June, to which more than 10 teams have already signed up.

Training sessions for Walking Rugby take place at B&ARFC every Wednesday evening starting at 7pm, to which all are invited so if you haven’t tried it yet why not just turn up and give it a go.

Meanwhile, Albion’s league match at Nailsea and Backwell which was abandoned when the referee was concussed after being hit by the ball, has been voided with no points awarded.
