Bridgwater and Albion 80- Cullompton 10

| 16/09/2018

South One West (West)

Bridgwater and Albion maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with this crushing victory over a spirited Cullompton side.

From the kick off however it was Cullompton who looked the more dangerous team and for the first few minutes the Devon side were threatening.

However on five minutes Man of the Match Rob Gurnett went over to score the first of his five tries, that was unconverted.

On 20 minutes a good move across the backs resulted in the ball finding Olly Dunn who burst through in his own inimitable style for a try that Stuart Heal converted.

Not long afterwards Will Monro produced a scintillating run from the deep before scoring a try which Heal converted.

With five minutes to go until the break Gurnett went over for his second try and on the stroke of half time Tom Fournier- D’Able touched down for a try, both of which Heal added the extras to making it 31-0 to Albion at the interval by which time the hosts had the game virtually sewn up.

In the second half Bridgwater continued to attack against a Cullompton side that never looked like throwing in the towel.

During the second half for Albion there were further three tries Gurnett for Dunn and Tom Fournier-D’Able, while Martin Keywood and Kyran Devitt also scored and Heal converted ten of the 12 tries scored in total.

Cullompton also picked up two tries in the second half making it 80-10 at full time.

This was an impressive performance by the Albion who really turned on the style in front of their own crowd, which included the Mayor of Bridgwater Councilor Diogo Rodrigues who was accompanied by representatives of Maltese side Kavalliere RFC, who were his guests.

This game marked the 200th first team appearance of long time stalwart of the club Matt Ranson.
