B&A hampered by injuries

Bridgwater suffered several early injures and after 12 minutes of play had used all three of their replacements.

Despite this the home side fought back well and levelled the scores. Stuart Heal kicked a penalty soon after which Louka Viala went over for a try in the left hand corner which Heal converted.

Chew then grabbed the initiative and scored two quick tries just before the break both of which were converted to put them into the lead 24-10 at the break.

Further injuries for Bridgwater and Albion RFC in the second half

Bridgwater suffered further injuries during the second half which enabled the strong well drilled Chew Valley to exploit the situation.  They then proceeded to run in five further tries to run out the comfortable winners.

Reflecting on the game Geoff Sluman the Director of Rugby at Bridgwater and Albion said: “ This was another disappointing result, but in no way am I disappointed with the effort the players put in.”

“ We had some freak injuries with all replacements used and not able to rejoin the match within the first 15 minutes. This left us with limited options and four or five players playing out of position. At one point we were down to 13 players on the pitch.”

Bridgwater and Albion RFC working hard for the cause

Sluman went onto say. “ The players worked hard for the cause and at times we saw glimpses of some of the patterns that we are introducing. Some other things that we have been working on in the week also showed benefits.

“Another couple of players made debuts on top of those last week so the team is still gelling and learning to play together.  They have all put in maximum effort.”

He added: “Next week we are away to Crediton.  We will look to improve and take the game to them.”
