Bridgwater is on a mission to help men get mentally fit.
New Male Talk Clubs at Bridgwater and Albion Rugby Club.
Talk Club is a male mental health charity. A mental fitness movement, that is coming to Bridgwater in the coming month.
Founded in Bristol in 2019 (and gaining charity status in 2021)
it has grown into a force for good, with over 80 clubs around the UK and over 3000 men in its community, and 1 more has been set up in Bridgwater.
Talk Club offers Talk & Listening groups, Talk & Exercise groups and Talk Club Therapy.
The new Talk & Listening Group is at Bridgwater & Albion RFC on College Way.
Talk Club exists because suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK. 76% of suicides are male. In fact, a man takes his own life every 90 minutes in the UK. Talk Club wants to change these horrific statistics.
Talk Club is all based around “How are you? Out of 10?” A simple question that allows men to be honest with their feelings by putting a number on it.
We then ask them to explain why they are that number.
Then, into what they are grateful for.
Then how, what are they going to do to look after their mental fitness this week? Based on food, sleep, and exercise.
And finally their check our numbers. Talk and Listening groups normally have 8-10 men in them and last around 2 hours.

Talk Club’s Community Manager Steve Barnard says:

So, this amazing venue at Bridgwater and Albion RFC is perfect, And could help hundreds of men and their families with their mental health. As a mentally fit man is good for everyone around him.”
