Reflecting on Saturday’s game Bridgwater and Albion head coach Simon Morrell said: “All things considered we were pleased to come away from Topsham Rd with our squad largely intact.
“Exeter University are a bit of an anomaly and certainly won’t be hanging around level 6 for long. They had some impressive athletes and it was a brilliant learning curve for us to be exposed to that intensity and one that we can use to our advantage.”
“No matter how the score line looks however I thought that there were a number of positives that we can take from our performance.
“I felt that the way that we handled the conditions in our own half was really encouraging and the way we found our way to get a field position in front of the sticks to clear our touchline without any agro at all went exceptionally well.
“I know that we have still got availability issues through injury but the guys we have signed this year you could see are more than capable of playing in the league above, which is where I reckon the Exeter Uni team we played yesterday would be.
“We have also got a large pool of younger players who are developing and are at the start of their rugby journeys which we know about and they will have gained a lot from Saturday’s game as well.
“I think that we could have had two or three scores out of yesterday’s game, but I think we maybe clammed up a little bit as we did against Drybrook last time out, which is something that we need to look at.
“Our set piece was in the main solid so against Exeter Uni that was another real positive.
“The boys need to reflect on their performances and then get themselves up and ready for Saturday’s game.”
This weekend the Albion are at home to Keynsham who are also in mid table, ahead of which the Friends of Bridgwater and Albion will be hosting a lunch for almost 200 guests, so there will be no lack of support for the Bridgy Boys.

Morrell said: “We have waited patiently to be at home with a decent experienced side out so we will be looking to put on a bit of a performance from the Friends who give great support to the club. I would be amazed if the boys don’t come out firing next week and put on a strong performance.”
