Burnham on Sea Seconds 10-38 Bridgwater & Albion RFC Thirds – Match Report

| 14/01/2025

Burnham on Sea Seconds 10-38 Bridgwater & Albion RFC Thirds.

Sadly the weather put paid to Bridgwater & Albion RFC Western Counties (North) fixture at Chosen Hill Former Pupils on Saturday as it had done on Friday evening when the Second XV’s home match against Weston-super-Mare Thirds XV also had to be postponed.

However the Third XV, did get to play.  They travelled to face near neighbours Burnham on Sea Seconds XV in Counties 4 Tribute Somerset South at Stoddens Road.

Burnham on Sea opened the scoring with an uncovered try.  In response, Bridgwater scored three tries.  The first by Rowan James, the second from George Burtenshaw which Dan Page added the extras to.

The visitors third try of the session was scored by Roger Drabble.  This was converted by Page giving the visitors a 19-5 lead at the interval.

Bridgwater & Albion RFC came out strongly

Bridgwater came out strongly after the interval and extended their lead.  Secured by tries from Jono Hayes which Page converted and Alexandre Celton which once again the trusty boot of Page converted.

Burnham rallied towards the end with their second unconverted try before Jake Roberts went over for the visitors sixth try.  Page kicked between the posts to make the final score 38-10.

This coming weekend Bridgwater & Albion First XV are at home to Old Bristolians kick off at 2pm.

Currently Old Bristolians occupy third place in the table with 52 point from 15 matches.  10 of which have been won, while their hosts find themselves third from the bottom with 19 from 13, three of which they have won.

When the two sides met earlier in the season it was Old Bristolians who ran out the winners by 39-10, but given their recent improved performances the Albion will be thinking that this is a game that they could get a result from to help them continue their climb up the table.
