. Cleve RFC 68- 22 Bridgwater & Albion RFC
Bridgwater & Albion RFC made the trip to South Gloucestershire to face table toppers Cleve on Saturday afternoon where once again they competed throughout but at the end were beaten by well well-organised and stronger team who took advantage of every opportunity.
As early as the second minute Cleve took the lead when their full-back crossed for a converted try. Albion responded well but on 12 minutes Cleve doubled their lead with another converted try.
The visitors then had a good spell of play. During this they enjoyed a 20-metre drive. This eventually resulted in a try for Lewis Plece making the score 14-5.
Hat trick of tries for Josh Davies
Cleve struck back. Throughout the next 10 minutes centre Josh Davies scored a hat-trick of tries. Two of which were converted to make the score 33-5.
Once again Albion replied strongly. Just before the interval Gavin Knight scored an unconverted try making it 33-10 at half time.
Cleve were quickly into their stride following the break. After three minutes a slick move initiating with the forwards, before the ball was worked across the backs, resulted in a converted try. Shortly after more good handling by Cleve saw them add another seven points to their tally making it 47-10.
Kyran scored try for Bridgwater & Albion RFC
Once again, the visitors came straight back into the attack with gooood work by replacement Finlay White and Rowan Traynor. After 57 minutes the ever-dangerous Kyran Devitt scored a try which he then added the extras to.
Another Cleve attack saw another converted try making the score 54-17.
The visitors weren’t done yet however and a clever kick and catch by Devitt created space for Traynor to go over for a try.
In the last few minutes, it was all Cleve during which they scored a further two converted tries before the game ended 68-22.
Bridgwater & Albion take a four-try bonus point from this game.
On Saturday, bottom-of-the-table Cinderford Seconds are the visitors at College Way, kick off at 2pm. A game that the Albion will be very much hoping to get a win from.
