Geoff Reflects…

| 16/01/2018

Reflecting on Saturday’s  match Geoff Sluman the Bridgwater & Albion Director of Rugby said: “We have to be pleased with our performance today. At times it did look like we had not played for a month but this was a difficult fixture. We gained five league points away from home.

“Clevedon probably deserved something out of the game and will consider themselves unlucky not to pick up any league points. We should not underestimate the Clevedon team. They were a big, physical and determined team and will always compete against Bridgwater. We had to play well to win.”

Sluman added: “Clevedon have had some good results at home to some good sides. They only lost to Launceston at home by three points, to Thornbury by six points and lost by only seven points to run away league leaders Exeter University so that shows what Clevedon can do and  for us to have won by eight points is a good result.

“Despite some knocks and bruises we have not picked up any major injuries so all in all it is a great restart to the second half of the season.”

On Saturday the Albion host Cullompton, who beat Bideford 31-15 on Saturday. The Devon side are fifth in the table three places above their hosts and when the two sides met at the end of September it was Bridgwater who won 29-26, so another tough game looks to be in prospect.
