Geoff Says…

| 10/01/2019

Bridgwater and Albion’s win on Saturday made it three victories in the last three matches, something which Geoff Sluman the club’s director of rugby was happy about, especially as the team gained a bonus point away from home.
Reflecting on the match which remained keenly contested right up until the final whistle Geoffsaid: “ Well, as expected, it wasn’t an easy or straightforward match. Cullompton were very spirited and it is difficult to understand exactly how they find themselves second from bottom in the league. We are now in fifth place in the league on 48 points but the teams in third and fourth place are both tied on 49 points so it is a very close completion between the three of us.
“We played the game against Cullompton that we wanted to play so in that respect we managed ourselves well. There are always aspects that you want to improve but on the whole we did very well and are satisfied with our performance. All 18 players contributed so our squad continues to gain good exposure.
“Achieving a win away from home and getting the bonus point to gain five league points is as good as it can get.
Geoff went on: “We started really strongly and that was important to help us blow the cobwebs of the Christmas break away. It was also a statement of how we wanted to play. The balance then changed and we had to do a fair bit of defending but that will be more beneficial to us in the longer term as we have run through both offensive and defensive patterns of play so that will set us up well for next week’s game.
The match kicks off at 3pm. The support we received at Cullompton was impressive and it honestly makes a difference to the team so lease come on down to support if you can.
