Geoff says

Geoff Sluman the Director of Rugby at BARFC was a happy man after watching the side beat Okehampton on Saturday.

“This was a good team performance and a thoroughly deserved victory over a strong Okehampton side

“ Before kick off we deliberately put pressure on ourselves to deliver a good performance. That is slightly alien as often we try to take pressure off to allow the guys to play freely but we talked honestly but what we needed – if you deliver a good performance then the result often looks after itself. The guys delivered a great performance.

“ This group of players have my respect, there is fantastic camaraderie and they should take confidence from the performance and result and take it up another level next week.

“We used all 18 in the squad well and at important times. Where as in previous weeks interchanges have been forced upon us by injury or yellow cards. Having the capability to chose when to use your interchanges is massive. Our discipline was much improved this week but I will still be expecting more from the players in that area next week

“The guys didn’t panic under pressure or during setbacks they just dug in and worked harder. There were set backs during the game and we found ourselves behind on the score board several times but the response each time was all positive.”

Geoff added: “We didn’t win because Okehampton were a poor side, they were very good and I believe this is the first time we have beaten them since we have both been playing in this league for the past several years. We won because of the commitment of the group. There was a great atmosphere too around the ground with a large crowd boosted by “The friends of Bridgwater & Albion” so our thanks go to them too – they played a great part!
