Geoff Says

| 17/11/2019

Geoff Sluman was pleased with the way that the Albion stuck to their guns to tough out a victory over Newton Abbot but warned that there is still plenty to do in training ahead of Friday night’s big match at North Petherton.

“I find it very difficult to understand, how, when they played like they did against us that Newton Abbot are where they are in the league. It is clear that in recent weeks they have changed a lot and I predict they will start winning games and climb their way up the league table.

Geoff went on: “We played a very business-like game against them, we went behind early on but we just stuck to our task, kept doing a lot of the things that we had been practicing and there was a confidence that it would all come good.

“We scored four tries so picked up a bonus point too. The team played well collectively and the E18ghteen Gin man of the match was awarded to George Sluman.

“Even though we have won a couple now we are deliberately critical of our own performances so we can improve further so we still have plenty to work on in training.

Our Second XV had a satisfying away win to Midsomer Norton 10-21 and they have climbed to second place in Somerset One.”

Looking ahead Geoff said: “Next week’s games will see our Second XV travel to Keynsham on Saturday, whist the First XV make the short trip to North Petherton on Friday night. That is always a really good fixture for rugby in the local area so please do come along and support if you can. The match kicks off at 19:30pm.”
