GWEN GOOCH – RIP

GWEN GOOCH

Bridgwater & Albion RFC offers its sincere condolences to members of the family of Gwen Gooch who has passed away recently at the age of 91. The club has good reason to fondly remember Gwen as she produced stalwart players in sons Tim and Chris as well as being married to the late John Gooch who was our Hon Treasurer for several seasons. Both Tim and Chris – both versatile players in the second and back rows – performed notably for the club and Tim was approaching 150 appearances when he emigrated to Australia; Chris went on to achieve almost 200 appearances and was our club captain in 1983/84. Gwen was a great supporter of her family’s involvement with the club. She continued to live in Wembdon and could often be seen enjoying the sunshine at The Green watching Wembdon CC perform in the summer months.

Gwen’s funeral will be held at St George’s Church, Wembdon on Wednesday 20th November at 1300.
