Head Coach and Team Manager reflect on Saturday’s game

| 05/12/2017

The Bridgwater and Albion head coach Simon Morrell and first team manager Geoff Sluman were both delighted with their side’s victory over local rivals North Petherton.

Geoff said: “Of course we are pleased to have won for the supporters and for the club, but even more than that I am really pleased for our group of players.

“Not only the players that represented us in the match day squad but also the wider group, many of whom were really unlucky not to have been there on the day as they so easily could have been

Simon said: “That was a great result for us and has come about as a result of what we have been working on in our training sessions in recent weeks, so credit to the boys.”

“I don’t think that any other side in the league can challenge as much as Petherton can in the scrum set piece and the break down.”

The head coach added: “We are a young side and that style of physicality and tenacity is at times quite difficult to cope with, so if we hadn’t been working on that aspect of our game over and looking for solutions then it could have been a different outcome against North Petherton.”

He went on: “It’s good for everyone and the lads can look back over that game and feel that they have ticked a huge box, and this is really important going into the winter period of the season.”
