Sad Loss of Committed Supporter & Volunteer

All members of Bridgwater & Albion Rugby Football Club are saddened with the announcement of the death of our loyal supporter& volunteer  William(Bill) Russell.

Bill was a popular,entertaining & regular visitor to the club in company with his son Angus & daughter in law Ria who in turn have been long term & excellent sponsors of the club through their former business Brittania Lanes.Despite his advancing years Bill was always willing to help the club in any way possible & so when a vacancy for fixtures secretary arose several years ago he seized the opportunity & took up the post willingly.Now if anyone thinks that this is an easy job with South West RFU prescribing the fixtures & dates this overlooks the work which is still required to fulfill the games. -contacting the opposition;agreeing the kick off time;liaising with the referee etc; & much more particularly  when a cup match was on the cards.Bill undertook all of these duties with some aplomb & efficiency & was always able to savour the successful conclusion of the matches with a well earned drink & joining in the celebrations or commiserations.

Bridgwater & Albion salutes Bill’s attachment & commitment & sends it sincere condolences to Angus Ria & their family for a life well lived.
