Bridgwater and Albion RFC II 62 Hornets RFC III 31

Bridgwater and Albion II ran in 10 tries, seven of which were scored by captain Shaun Mahoney to make it five wins in six games, when they beat Hornets on Saturday at College Way.

Mahoney put the hosts into the lead with an unconverted try which Hornets managed to level shortly afterwards. The first half was very much nip and tuck.

Two more Mahoney tries, both of which were converted were matched by Hornets.  This made the score 19-19 at the interval.

However Hornets were far from done for and a converted try saw them close the gap to 12 points.

The hosts then stepped up a gear and three more tries from Mahoney, one of which was converted, plus a converted try from George Burtenshaw saw Bridgwater go into the final stages of the match 62-26.

Afterwards captain Shaun Mahoney said: “It was a strong all round performance and we worked well as a team.  It continued the recent winning streak.  I would like to thank all the players for their ongoing commitment after a tough start to the season.”
