RIP DICK RAYMOND – FORMER PLAYER AND CLUB MEMBER

Bridgwater & Albion Rugby Football Club was sad to learn of the death of past player Dick Raymond on Christmas Eve at the age of 89.

Dick – along with his brother Bill (who passed away in August 2021) joined the club in the early 1950’s and played in our 1st and United XV’s for several seasons.

Dick was a contemporary of many renowned Albion players from that period including Gordon Barrett, DT Williams, Jim Baker, Leno Guerrero, Alan Gibbs, Jack Gregory and Bert Bastable with a young Dave Hodge just starting out on his long career.

Dick was an Old Morganian and a member of the Dr Morgans Association.  His son Ian played for Morganians RFC for several seasons.  Dick’s nephew Nick Williams captained Bridgwater & Albion Athletic XV in the late 1960’s and in turn Nick’s sons David and Gareth have also played for the club at various levels.

A long association and Bridgwater & Albion extends its sincere condolences to Dick’s family with thanks for his service and interest to and in the club.
