WEBB ELLIS SOMERSET COUNTY CUP

Bridgwater & Albion have been drawn away to Old Redcliffians in the second round of this season’s competition to be played on or by the weekend of 22/23 February.  The remainder of the draw is 

Midsomer Norton v Yeovil

Hornets v Taunton

Weston-super-Mare have received a bye.

There is considerable history between the clubs in the Somerset Knock-Out Cup with the sides having contested the final on three occasions.  In 1972/73 Albion won 15-9 after extra time; in 1976/77 Albion won 18-6 in a replayed final after the sides had drawn 9-9 each in the original match; and in 1992/93 Albion were successful 21-5.  

Albion’s last appearance in the final was in 2006/7 when they went down 7-33 to Weston-super-Mare.  Old Redcliffians last appeared in the final in 2012/13 losing 32-33 to Weston-super-Mare. 

In recent seasons Old Redcliffians have sped through the leagues and are currently in National 2 South.
