Geoff Says…

| 14/04/2019

Thornbury were a spirited young side, but they had plenty of threats throughout their team. We secured five tries during the game so gained a winning bonus point too.

“All of the things we wanted to do the players deployed well. We had to be patient in our attack but we kept probing away. It sounds a little strange to say, as you always want this to be the case, but we played the game on the right parts of the pitch. What I mean by that is that we controlled play and played in Thornbury territory so we made it very difficult for them to score. It may have been the last game of the season but we still have players who are breaking into the squad and developing and they did tremendously well.”

Bridgwater and Albion director of rugby Geoff Sluman has said that the 34-19 victory over Thornbury ‘was a great way to sign off the season.’

Geoff went on :”Thornbury were a spirited young side, but they had plenty of threats throughout their team. We secured five tries during the game so gained a winning bonus point too.

“It was not as bad as the previous week but we had to deploy our replacements early following some injuries and therefore not deploy them as tactical opportunities. That disrupted us somewhat but again the players adapted well. We kept one formation following the early changes that did a great job for us but then we changed things around a little and altered our formation, reacting to some changes that Thornbury made and that also proved good for us as we found more space and became a more of an attacking threat.”
The director of rugby paid tribute to his players.

The Albion’s South West One (West) season may be over, but there is still more rugby to catch up with at College Way.
“On Thursday evening we host the Somerset Senior Cup Final. Kick-off is at 19:30. It should be a good game between North Petherton RFC and Taunton RFC so do please come along and support if you can. “Bridgwater and Albion director of rugby Geoff Sluman has said that the 34-19 victory over Thornbury ‘was a great way to sign off the season.’
