Bridgwater and Albion RFC mourn treasured stalwarts
CLUBS MOURN TREASURED STALWARTS
In the last few weeks local clubs have lost two ardent supporters of the game.
BOB (MISTER) MAEER
Bridgwater & Albion members will recall Mister as a long-time supporter who regularly travelled with the 1st XV around the league circuit. He rarely missed a game in his heyday. He passed away recently at the age of 90. He hailed from Dunwear and had been a Bridgwater & Albion member and supporter for many years.
COLIN (ADMIRAL) HILL
A North Petherton RFC playing, committee and other stalwart – Admiral also passed away recently at the age of 83. He was a formidable centre for North Petherton – having played from the late 1950’s onwards. He was a member of the unbeaten 1962/63 North Petherton side. Bridgwater & Albion players will remember him from the Gentlemen’s XV which was a combination of veterans from both clubs which made some successful tours to Jersey back in the 1980’s/early 1990’s. So powerful was the side that it was never beaten.
Bridgwater & Albion sends its condolences to the families of both of these fine followers of the game.
