It’s Geoff Says…

| 09/02/2020

Geoff Sluman the B&ARFC director of rugby admits that his side didn’t play well enough to beat Keynsham on Saturday.

“I don’t really think we played badly, we just didn’t play well enough to beat a determined Keynsham side though. I think we were still suffering a bit of a “hang over” from the previous week’s bad result and we didn’t look like we quite got that out of our systems.

“You have got to say the defensive effort from Keynsham was outstanding – one of the best we have seen this season. We didn’t help ourselves at times but things just never really “clicked” for us. Our management of certain situations was not up to our usual standard.

“However there were some good individual performances and the E18ghteen Gin ‘Man of the Match’ was Will Monro.

“I cannot fault the effort from the team so it is more a case of working smarter rather than harder. We know what we have to do to improve so it will be back to training and working on those things.”

Things don’t get any easier for the Albion, because on Saturday they face a trip to the Forest of Dean to face Lydney, never an easy place to win.

“Next weekend we have a difficult away trip to Lydney, We “sneaked” a win against them back in October but they always put in a very robust and typical Gloucestershire performance when playing at home. Our second team return to action with a home fixture against a high flying second placed Chew Valley at College Way with a 14:30kick off.”
