Simon Reflects on a great win in front of large crowd

| 31/10/2017

Simon Morrell the Bridgwater and Albion head coach was very pleased with the performance that his side put in against Keynsham.

“It was a brilliant win for us and there was no doubting the team’s commitment. Even with a side that is still far from full strength we are able to beat a team in mid table.

“We are not going to over react after this result because the serious pressure will come on us when we are full strength and we take on an Exeter Uni or Drybrook side, which is going to give us a true benchmark of where we are.

“The 230 that came to the Friends of Bridgwater Lunch were looking forward to a game and beforehand we talked to the boys about how supportive and loyal the Friends have been to us. We wanted to reward them and pay them back, so I am really pleased that we played an attractive brand of rugby with plenty of endeavour and commitment and hopefully it was a good spectacle for them as well.”

During the course of the game Craig Blyde sustained an injury and Alan Roberts broke his wrist, in addition to which Adam Coneybeare has got a serious shoulder injury.

“Its just relentless really and its lucky that we have recruited because we have certainly needed to.”

On Saturday the Albion head west to face cornish side Launceston about which the head coach said: “This is an ideal fixture for us because we are desperate to topple one of the big boys off their perch and Launceston are third. We certainly don’t fear them and we will go there and give it a good crack and see how we end up after 80 minutes.”
